Job Description

SSR (Substantiated Security Risk)
Unit Special Incentive :
Employees that are assigned to the Maximum-Security Unit will receive a $3,000.00 incentive. Base Pay Adjustments Plus Institution Incentives Close Institutions Broad River CI, Kirkland CI , Lee CI, Lieber CI, McCormick CI, Perry CI •$54,682 - $55,704 •The salary amounts provided represent the minimum and maximum ranges based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC. It is important to note that not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives. Provide direct supervision of all wing activities and functions. Conduct security, safety and health inspection at least every 30 minutes on an irregular basis. These security checks will be recorded in the MSU Logbook and the Zebra Scanners. Prepare and submit written reports of all events. Maintain surveillance and search for contraband. Ensure that the highest standard of cleanliness and sanitation are maintained at all times. Ensure Multi-Threat Vest and face shield are properly worn by all staff when present on the wing. Be knowledgeable of emergency evacuation policies and procedures. Conduct an inventory of all equipment and keys. Maintain and operate security devices such as gates, doors, weapons, and mechanical devices. Ensure that all inmates are strip-searched and restrained to the highest level of security prior to entering/exiting the cell. Ensure (2) Officers are present at all times whenever a cell door is open. Report inmate complaints for appropriate action to be taken. SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen 18 years of age or older High school graduate or GED Must possess a valid driver's license
Tattoos:
Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC. Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.
