Job Description

Job Summary:
The role involves overseeing the care and custody of inmates at the Chehalis Tribal Jail, ensuring order and discipline among inmates. Duties include booking and releasing offenders, maintaining facility security, escorting offenders, managing volatile individuals, and handling various clerical tasks. This position is part of the Public Safety department and is considered an essential service for the Chehalis Tribal Government. Responsibilities Monitor inmate behavior and maintain security within the facility. Manage conflicts and de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Conduct regular inspections and patrols to ensure safety protocols are followed. Utilize CCTV systems to oversee activities and report any suspicious behavior. Provide first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring the health and safety of inmates and staff. Document incidents and maintain accurate reports for law enforcement purposes.
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent with at least two (2) years' directly related experience preferred. Some higher education experience preferred. Prefer experience with American Indian/Alaska Native communities.
Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old. Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and proof of liability insurance. Be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. Successfully pass pre-employment Drug Screen. Successfully pass a Polygraph and Psychological test. Successfully pass Criminal Background Check. The following may disqualify any employee from consideration or continued employment: a. Any felony conviction b. Any domestic violence violations, convictions, or restraints. c. Any violations, convictions, or restraints for actions made against children or vulnerable adults. d. Any false, untrue statements or material omissions in the application and related paperwork or during the selection process. Maintain any training and credential requirements as per policy and procedure. Successful completion of Indian Police Academy Corrections Program as required by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. (6 Weeks). Ability to work rotating shift assignments, operating on a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week schedule.
