DESCRIPTION
Full-time Jail Corporal WPPA Union
STARTING WAGE AND BENEFITS
?
STARTING WAGE
$29.06 ? Shift differential for night shifts ? Wisconsin Retirement Fund ? Comprehensive County benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and deferred compensation ? Uniforms and gear provided
Additional Pay and Duty Opportunities:
? Extra duty pay for Jail Training Officer, WI DOJ Certified Instructor and Bilingual (Spanish), EMP Coordinator ?

Lateral Transfer:
? Starting pay up to $32.71, depending on years of service; lateral benefits may also apply. Applicants must be available to work a rotating 12-hour schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. This schedule allows for every other Friday-Saturday-Sunday off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Supervise Jailers and jail staff
  • Organize and train Jailers and jail staff
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the jail and related functions
  • Report to the Jail Lieutenant on a regular basis with problems and concerns.
  • Directly supervise assigned shift when Sergeant is off and back up the Sergeant.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Train employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance, reward employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Maintain safety, security and discipline in the Jail, intervene to stop disturbances, conduct searches and inspections, surveillance of all inmates,
  • Take custody of and release inmates
  • Prepare reports and other paperwork.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education Requirements:
? High School Diploma or equivalent ? Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience ? Once hired, must be capable of completing LESB Jailer certification and maintain appropriate 24-hour recertification requirements. ? Once hired, may be required to attend a supervisory training course

Minimum age:
20 ? U.S. citizen (per Wis. Stats. 66.0501(2)) ? Strong working knowledge of Wisconsin Statutes relating to Prisoner Incarceration and Wisconsin Administrative Code DOC 350 ? No unpardoned felony convictions, nor any offense that could be punished as a felony in Wisconsin ? No misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence as defined in 18 USC 921(a)(33) or domestic abuse under Wis. Stats. 968.075(1)(a) ? Must be of good character ? Must be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that would negatively affect law enforcement duties ? Ability to meet physical performance requirements ? Vision correctable to 20/20 ? Basic computer literacy ? Good written and verbal communication skills ? Self-motivated and have the ability to work in a team environment ?
