POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for data entry in computer, filing, preparing and maintaining documents for Court and requires knowledge of organization's operations. The purpose of this position is to serve in a clerical position for the Juvenile Court Judge and staff, maintain Court records accurately, type correspondence, reports, answer the telephone, act as a receptionist to the public and handle a wide variety of court related questions. Enter and maintain data in computer assemble and file documents, records. Possess an above average ability in communicative skills in dealing with the public. Work is performed in an office setting with intermittent standing, walking, bending, and/or stooping. The employee is required to lift light objects (less than 24 pounds) Graduation from high school and an associate degree in secretarial science preferred. Two years Previous experience preferred. Sufficient experience to understand basic principles to the major duties of this position. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Enters computer data base information pertaining to cases referred to the Court. Dockets complaints and refers to Clerk's Office. Processes subpoenas, summons and bond requests in a timely manner. Prepares court documents, petitions, orders, conditions of probation, etc. Receives, screens, and directs telephone calls to appropriate persons and/or agencies. Organizes and assimilates files. Maintains filing and record keeping system. Monitors and orders supplies as needed. Reserves courtroom for agencies/meetings as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the Code of Georgia Juvenile Court guidelines applicable to processing cases. Knowledge of procedures for filing, organizing and compiling files. Skill in operating office equipment such as computer, typewriter, copy machine, fax machine. Above average skill in dealing with the public.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and an associate degree in secretarial science preferred. Two years previous experience preferred. Sufficient experience to understand basic principles to the major duties of this position. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license. A combination of education and/or work experience may be substituted for minimum requirements. Clerk
