Description:
The Wayne County Probate Court is looking for a Court Clerical Worker VI-Mental Health Clerk. The Mental Health Clerk is an entry-level, data entry position that processes petitions and miscellaneous documents related to the alleged mentally ill and developmentally disabled population. This position requires strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to acceptance and filing of documents.
Responsibilities:
Process Mental Health petitions filed in the Wayne County Probate Court, including those with an alleged or mental illness and/or individuals with developmental disabilities. Demonstrate the ability to apply applicable court rules and laws to the processing of documents filed with the Behavioral Health Unit. Maintain the image of the Court by courteously dispensing timely and accurate information to the public, judges, coworkers, management, and attorneys in a professional and courteous manner regarding Probate Court forms, policies, and procedures in person, via email, or by telephone. Make appropriate referrals to other departments as needed. Review and scrutinize petitions for accuracy and completeness prior to acceptance and filing. Coordinate with other Probate Courts to properly process out of county MI Petitions. Review case records, establish new case records, and enter data into electronic court files, prepare notices of hearing and proofs of service, facilitate attorney assignments, prepare, and distribute packets to attorneys. Forward notices to hospitals and petitioners via electronic or U.S. Mail. Index and appropriately route petition packets. Notify the receiving courtroom of any missing documents or other issues. Accurately and timely enter and result MI/DD documents into CourtView using specific codes, and scanning/imaging documents when applicable. Review and correct all images daily. Communicate with hospitals, agencies, attorneys, and the public (via phone, email or face-to-face interactions) as to the schedule of petitions set for hearing. Prepare and forward Status Reports to the hospitals via email for their use in updating courtrooms on the patient's status and verifying attendance at hearing. Ensure the cohesive operation of the unit by monitoring status of work-in-progress, performing and assigning work, keeping the supervisor informed of workflow status and any pending issues, and assisting with training as needed. Review, generate and process all departmental quality assurance reports (i.e., Missing Images, DD Ticklers, MI event results, etc.); review data for accuracy. Receive, retrieve, and distribute departmental communications whether via email, facsimile, inter-office, or first-class mail. Monitor supplies and inform supervision of supply needs. Facilitate the work of management by performing other duties as assigned.
