Job Description

Part-time teaching in the Judicial Court Reporting program with a focus on instruction for theory and speed-building courses. 1. Instruction of fundamental and advanced coursework in judicial court reporting including realtime theory, speed building (testimony, jury charge, literary), legal terminology, CAT software and transcription production, document development, editing and proofreading, and legal/court procedures. 2. Develop appropriate teaching and instructional strategies to ensure student learning and program learning outcomes are met. 3. Provide students with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved standardized syllabus. 4. Prepare for class by reviewing course content as provided by course coordinator and communicating regularly with them. 5. Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback. 6. Solicit feedback from students through instructor evaluations. 7. Comply with College policies and all semester and end-of-term responsibilities, including submission of never attends, early alerts, midterms, and final grades, copies of exams, attendance records, and all other designated materials to the Academic Office. Associate degree in Court Reporting and Certified Reporting Instructor (CRI) or Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification. 1. Experience in real-time court reporting and judicial procedures, including current trends and emerging technologies. 2. Ability to work effectively with students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. 3. Strong communication and organizational skills. 4. Critical thinking and decision-making skills. 5. Experience with Roberts, Walsh, and Gonzalez Theory.
