JOB SUMMARY
The Court Operations Technician performs clerical, administrative, and public relations tasks in support of daily operations of the Municipal Court.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Answers incoming calls and handles appropriately. Processes incoming fax correspondence. Processes Freedom of Information requests. Prepares court dockets. Enters Arrest Warrants. Verification of Bond paperwork. Assists the public, attorneys, and judges as required. Responsible for processing continuance requests submitted to the Mount Pleasant Municipal Court website. Acquires all pertinent paperwork from police officers, not submitted with original charging documents. Prepares and mails notifications to crime victims. Prepares subpoenas to notify victims and witnesses of court appearances. Maintains officers' ticket inventory files. Cross trains with other Court positions. Performs other related assigned duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
High school diploma or GED, and three (3) years of related work experience; Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid South Carolina driver's license. Bilingual (Spanish) desired but not required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be proficient with computers and technology; Knowledge of office procedures and equipment; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; Must maintain confidentiality; Ability to maintain, manage, and organize records; Ability to meet and deal appropriately with Town employees, officials, and the public; Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively; Strong problem-solving skills; Self-starter, takes initiative, ability to work independently or as part of a team; Ability to manage time effectively, strict adherence to various deadlines, works well under pressure. Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, usage of computers and reading. This position requires substantial repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee consistently maintains balance either sitting, standing, or walking and is occasionally required to stoop or crouch. The employee may occasionally push, pull, or lift and move objects up to 10 pounds.
COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
The work requires the following mental abilities to perform critical tasks: use judgment, make decisions, interact with others, adapt to changes in jobs, verbal interactions, people skills - more than basic communication with others, and problem solving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant. To deliver superior performance in a manner that is distinctive and impactful to each person served and that establishes a standard for quality that endures for generations.
