Contract / Freelance (One-day assignment with potential follow-up work) About the Role Global Lingo is seeking an experienced Recording & Transcription Specialist for an upcoming on-site assignment in Arlington, VA. This role involves capturing high-quality audio of a live roundtable discussion and supporting accurate transcription through structured note-taking. There is also an opportunity for post-event transcription work for candidates with relevant experience. Key Responsibilities On-Site (June 23) Record a roundtable discussion (~14 participants) using a Dictaphone (provided) or venue audio system Set up and manage recording equipment Take structured notes to: Identify speakers Capture context and discussion flow Highlight key discussion points to support transcription accuracy Post-Event (Optional) Perform ASR transcription post-editing into true verbatim format Deliver completed transcript within 3-day turnaround time Transcription Requirements (If Applicable) Produce true verbatim transcripts , including: Repetitions, false starts, and disfluencies Background sounds and non-verbal cues (e.g., laughter) Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards What we are looking for Proven experience in on-site audio recording and/or transcription workflows Strong attention to detail, especially in speaker identification and contextual note-taking Ability to manage live event environments professionally Flexibility to support both recording and transcription (preferred but not required) Compensation Hourly rate: Please specify your rate when applying Candidates offering transcription services will be asked to complete a short test How to Apply Please submit the following: Confirmation of availability and interest Your hourly rate Current location Your CV/resume , highlighting relevant recording and/or transcription experience If you only offer recording/device management services, we still encourage you to apply—please include your quote.
