Immediately Job Description Full-Time and Permanent; 6.5 Hours/Day; 182 Days/Year; 11 Months/Year; Grade HH General Responsibilities This position is responsible for monitoring student attendance, dropout retrieval, and serving as the division's attendance officer. Education and Experience Requires a high school diploma, some college level course work and 1-2 years of experience with at-risk youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of customer service experience. Requires a valid driver's license. Essential Job Functions Serving as the division's attendance officer. Serves as school representative to parents, students, and court officials concerning unexcused absences. Schedules and facilitates attendance conferences with school staff, parents and students concerning unexcused absences. Reviews attendance guidelines with parents and students. Inputs or retrieve attendance data from the student information system. Generates truancy reports for school staff and administrators; Reconciles and adjusts attendance data and follows standard protocols and applicable laws and regulations. Prepares forms, attendance summaries, truancy reports and other documents as required. Communicates with parents or guardians to report or verify excused or unexcused absences. Operates a computer and use various software applications to complete assigned duties. Explains and interprets applicable laws, regulations and protocols to parents, guardians and staff. Presents lawful documentation to Juvenile and Circuit Court System. Files petitions against parents or guardians who are out of compliance with state attendance regulations. Provides accurate and lawful documentation to Juvenile Courts. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Monitor attendance and identify habitual truancy. Maintain punctual and consistent attendance; Performs home visits for truant students. Attends weekly prevention meetings with court and community professionals. Works under the general supervision of a Senior Coordinator of Student Support Services. Performs other duties as assigned.
