Job Description

Court reporters remain one of the most in-demand professions in the legal industry. Court reporters have a critical role in legal proceedings, which require an exact record of what occurred. Our reporters are responsible for producing a complete, accurate, and secure transcript of trials and other legal proceedings.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Fiduciary Reporting, Inc. is currently seeking stenographers, voice writers, and digital reporters available for criminal proceedings in the Virginia Beach and Eastern Shore courthouses. Digital reporters must produce their own transcripts. This is a 1099 contractor position. This allows you the freedom to set your availability and how much you're willing to work.
REQUIREMENTS
Stenographically, or by use of voice writing or digital equipment, reports verbatim court proceedings by use of Computer-Aided Transcription equipment and software. Licensure is not currently required in the State of Virginia. A certificate of completion from a stenography, voice writing, or digital reporting school is required. May also consider candidates currently in school for stenography/voice writing/digital reporting (unpaid mentorship available).
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Take down and produce verbatim transcripts of criminal trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings where an official record is required. Ask speakers to clarify unclear or inaudible statements. Research when necessary to verify technical, legal, medical, and other specialized terms. Maintain confidential information according to legal standards and/or court regulations and maintain court reporter notes per statute. Establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others, including judicial officers, attorneys, supervisors, coworkers, other agencies, and the public.
PAY:
