Category Assistive Technology Specialist Job Type Contract Explore an exciting contract opportunity for an experienced Assistive Technology Specialist and Braillist for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about supporting students with visual and print disabilities, ensuring equal access to educational materials through innovative assistive technology and braille literacy expertise.
Key Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Assistive Technology Specialist, Braillist, or a related educational support position Proficiency in braille transcription, including familiarity with current braille codes and technology Comfortable evaluating, recommending, and implementing assistive technology solutions for students Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families Background working within school settings preferred Relevant certification or credential in assistive technology or braille transcription is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments to determine individual student needs for assistive technology and braille materials Recommend, set up, and train students and staff in the use of appropriate assistive devices and software Transcribe and produce learning materials in braille Collaborate with educational teams to support student learning goals and IEPs Stay up to date with the latest advancements in assistive technology and braille standards Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting
