Category Assistive Technology Specialist Job Type Contract Step into an impactful contract opportunity for the 26/27 school year as an Assistive Technology Specialist and Braillist near Gig Harbor, WA. Make a difference by supporting students' learning experiences and empowering their independence through expertly delivered assistive technology and braille services.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting assistive technology for educational settings Demonstrated expertise in braille transcription and production Understanding of accessible instructional materials, screen readers, and adaptive devices Ability to collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families Excellent communication and training skills to support both students and educational staff Organized, resourceful, and able to manage multiple caseloads efficiently Previous experience in a school or educational environment is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive student assessments to determine appropriate assistive technology solutions Prepare, transcribe, and produce braille instructional materials Train students and staff on the effective use of various assistive technologies and braille devices Maintain and service assistive technology equipment and software Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, offering expertise to optimize student access Maintain accurate documentation on evaluations, trainings, and services provided Stay current with trends and advancements in instructional technology and braille resources Working with us means you'll have the chance to shape inclusive environments, build meaningful relationships with students, and continue developing your professional skills in a supportive contract role.
