Category Assistive Technology Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a vital position supporting students by combining your expertise as an Assistive Technology Specialist and Braillist in a dynamic, contract-based opportunity for the 2026/2027 school year. You'll play a key part in ensuring accessibility and independence for students with vision impairments, collaborating with dedicated educators to enhance their learning experiences.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Strong background in assistive technology, particularly as it relates to educational settings Proficiency in Braille transcription and adaptation of classroom materials Familiarity with current software and devices used for students with vision impairments Excellent communication skills for working closely with staff, students, and families Experience conducting needs assessments and recommending tailored technology solutions Certifications in assistive technology or Braille preferred, but not required
Role Responsibilities:
Assess individual student needs and determine the most effective assistive technology Transcribe and adapt instructional materials into Braille and tactile formats Provide training to students and staff on the use of assistive technology devices and software Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of tech tools, ensuring accessibility at all times Collaborate in IEP meetings and contribute to program planning for students Stay updated on advances in assistive technology to offer the best solutions possible
