Forensic RN Examiner - Nebraska Methodist Health System

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a forensic RN examiner for the Jennie Edmundson hospital. This is a casual position where you will be accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families according to the individualized needs of the patient.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide age-appropriate, patient-centered nursing and forensic care tailored to individual needs, culture, and comfort levels. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including forensic examinations, evidence collection, and ongoing evaluation of care needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, including patient education and discharge planning. Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing interventions, medication administration, crisis support, and treatment according to established protocols and standards of care. Monitor, evaluate, and document patient outcomes while ensuring effective communication, continuity of care, and accurate reporting. Maintain professional practice through risk prevention, infection control, delegation, technical competency, teamwork, and participation in on-call forensic nursing coverage.

Casual - must be able to provide a minimum of five to six (5-6) 12-hour on-call shifts per month, equating to approximately 60-72 on-call hours monthly.

Salary:

Pay starts at $38.00 an hour and may increase based on work history/experience.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements. Minimum of two years experience in a related clinical area (ED, OB or Women's Health preferred). Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire. Core certification related to area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 1 year of eligibility preferred.
