Schedule:
37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday (flexible if needed) Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Criminal Records Data Analyst to support a state government agency in its statutory responsibilities related to sex and violent offender registration. This onsite position in Indianapolis requires an analytical professional who can accurately research, interpret, and process sensitive court documents while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with Indiana state regulations. The incumbent will report to the Offender Registration and Victim Services Division within the Department of Correction and work independently with periodic reviews for accuracy, policy compliance, and departmental goals. High data accuracy is critical—inaccurate records can negatively impact public perception and create public safety risks. Essential Responsibilities Research, retrieve, and collect court documents from multiple jurisdictions and legal sources Analyze, interpret, and validate legal documents including conviction/sentencing records, presentence investigation reports, probable cause affidavits, and court orders Communicate professionally with local and state law enforcement agencies to obtain, verify, and clarify necessary documentation Enter, validate, and reconcile data into designated web portals and database systems with exceptional accuracy Identify trends, patterns, and relationships within criminal records data Maintain strict discretion when handling confidential criminal history information and sensitive material Establish and sustain cooperative working relationships with department staff and external agency partners Perform statistical and analytical research using computer statistical programs for quantitative analysis Prepare accurate reports and documentation in narrative, tabular, and visual formats Perform related duties as assigned by
Division Staff Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree preferred); equivalent work experience may be considered
Experience:
Broad experience with data collection, data entry, and data analysis operations
Knowledge:
Broad knowledge of the Indiana Criminal Code Thorough understanding of the Department of Correction and all levels of the Criminal Justice System Extensive experience working with court documents, legal jargon, and criminal history records
Skills:
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to read, process, analyze, and accurately enter detailed data containing sensitive criminal material Strong decision-making capabilities when handling multiple, complex tasks Attention to detail with commitment to 100% accuracy
Pay:
