Job Description

KVC Missouri Child Advocacy CenterLocation:
On-site Pay:
$43,500 - $46,000 annually (based on education + experience)Job SummaryAssist children and families impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or witness to abuse/crime/violence. This highly sensitive position requires an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, as well as skills in working effectively with children. The interviewer shall attempt to gather abuse-related history needed by multidisciplinary participants (i.e. Law enforcement, Childrens Division, physician, prosecuting attorney, mental health therapists, victim services advocate).
Major Duties:
Participate in training to conduct forensic interviews of alleged victims of child abuseRespond to referrals for forensic interview services in a prompt and professional mannerConduct forensic interviews of alleged victims of child abuse, as scheduledMaintain a good working relationship with law enforcement, Childrens Division, prosecuting attorneys, SAFE Network providers, community agencies, and other professionals in the community as well as with multidisciplinary team membersSubmit summary report on each forensic interview to all pertinent MDT members within the required 14-day time frame, from the date of the initial referralBe knowledgeable about community resourcesMaintain timely and accurate case files and recordsTreat client files and records in accordance with federal, state, local and agency confidentiality regulations and the clients best interests. This includes careful and professional disclosures in the discussion of material and/or specific client concerns in consultation, referral, or client advocacy in an inter-or intra-agency settingMaintain training logsProvide court testimony and crisis intervention servicesParticipate in peer review a minimum of at least twice per yearParticipate in fundraising opportunities
Education:
High School Diploma and minimum of 2 years experience.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid drivers license and auto insurance.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and families in a social services roleStrong customer service focus, excellent time management, oral and written communication skills Independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with attention to detail Proficient in Word and email applicationsAbility to work productively and respectfully with individuals and families from diverse cultural backgroundsCapable of functioning independently, practicing good judgment and discretion in decision making and promote positive parenting and child development while reducing the risk of child maltreatmentDemonstrated willingness to work a non-structured flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Bachelors degree in a human services area, family development area or Associates degree in Child Development with 60+ college credit hoursExperience working with children and families in a trauma informed environment
