Job Description

Job Summary Under the direction of a Digital Forensic Supervisor, the Digital Forensic Examiner (DFE) will conduct forensic examinations of digital evidence for a variety of matters including criminal and civil litigation as well as corporate and private investigations. These examinations take place within a laboratory environment or on scene at location chosen by the requesting party, depending on the sensitivity of the case. On-scene examinations may require overnight travel. The DFE will use licensed industry-standard forensic tools to memorialize, extract, and examine digital content, identify relevant evidence, and document findings in clear technical products and reports. Clients range from private counsel to the Department of Defense (DOD). Work may include, but is not limited to, in court DFE consulting and expert testimony. Candidates will be required to have their own, fully insured, transportation. This job will require travel to support cases and client demands. Overnight travel may be required to support legal matters. Qualifications This position requires a bachelor's, advanced degree, or high-level certifications in a computer-related field or equivalent experience in law enforcement or digital forensics. Ideal candidates will have one to three years of exposure to digital forensic practices, techniques, and evidence handling and have a working knowledge and understanding required to be a Digital Forensic Examiner. Training and experience using digital forensics tools such as Cellebrite PA, Magnet Axiom, Oxygen, FTK, LLEAP's and currently have at least one certification in smart phone forensics. Candidates must be prepared to obtain training and certifications that would qualify them as an expert witness within one year and can testify in a court of law. Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and clients is an essential function of this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct digital forensic examinations involving the collection, processing, analysis, interpretation, and preservation of digital evidence.
  • Examine digital devices and media in support of network vulnerability mitigation, intelligence operations, and investigative requirements.
  • Utilize forensic tools such as Cellebrite, EnCase, Axiom, LLEAPS, Oxygen, Witness, CellHAWK, and FTK, to perform examinations and extract relevant evidence.
  • Analyze complex and large data sets to identify relevant findings, and artifacts.
  • Ability to use Case Management system and collaboration space.
  • Document forensic processes, findings, and conclusions in technical reports and case documentation.
  • Ability to testify in court and translate technical findings to a lay person.
  • Support technical discussions and provide input on forensic findings, methodologies, and recommendations to clients.
  • Use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook to prepare products, communicate findings, and support mission execution.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
