Investigator/Intake Specialist

The Stark County Public Defender Office is seeking a full-time investigator/intake specialist. You will interview potential clients to assess whether they financially qualify for the services of the Public Defender Office, based upon standards set forth in the Ohio Administrative Code. During said interview, you will also gather information from the client pertinent to his or her case and prepare a written summary in order to assist the attorney assigned to the client's case. Additionally, you will be required to complete investigations in attorneys' cases, which may include interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence and discovery materials, visiting crime scenes, and gathering evidence. The position requires frequent travel to the Stark County Jail, as well as Massillon and Alliance Municipal Courts. The applicant must have have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Previous experience in the legal or criminal justice field, as well as experience working with the indigent population, is advantageous, but not required.

The salary is negotiable based upon relevant experience. Hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, including a paid lunch hour.
