Greenville County Department of Public Safety Forensic Division is a leading forensic science laboratory dedicated to providing high-quality, state-of-the-art forensic analysis services. As part of our mission to support law enforcement agencies and the justice system, we are seeking a talented Criminalist (Serology/DNA Analysis) to join our team. Greenville County is seeking a Criminalist to conduct evidence processing and serological examinations on evidence recovered from crime scenes. This position is responsible for the analysis of biological material on evidence items; collecting samples for DNA processing; maintaining accurate and detailed documentation reflecting the analysis, findings and conclusions of the examiner; provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings; and to participate in quality control and quality assurance activities. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Applicant must possess the minimum educational requirements published within the 2020 FBI Quality Assurance Standards. The analyst shall have a bachelor's (or its equivalent) or an advanced degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area and shall have successfully completed course work (graduate or undergraduate level) covering the dollowing subject areas; biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology; and course work in statistics and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis. Applicant will be required to obtain a law enforcement certification, or other certificates and licenses as determined by the Assistant County Administrator for the Greenville County Department of Public Safety.
