Job Type Full Time Regular Job Number 2026-32 Department Police Services Division Operating Services Opening Date 03/30/2026 Description Performs specialized administrative and technical support for the Criminal Investigations Division. This role is responsible for reviewing incidents, preparing and filing criminal cases for Denton and Tarrant Counties, obtaining and organizing digital evidence, and ensuring compliance with filing deadlines—including juvenile statutory timelines. The position works with a high degree of independence, accuracy, confidentiality, and frequent interaction with prosecutors, courts, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Examples of Duties Reviews police reports, arrests, and juvenile cases daily to determine case filing needs and statutory deadlines. Prepares, packages, and submits complete criminal case files, including digital evidence, for both Denton County and Tarrant County. Retrieves and prepares digital media such as 911 calls, body-worn camera footage, photos, and videos using department specific digital systems. Communicates daily with prosecutors, courts, attorneys, and outside law enforcement agencies. Processes expunction requests, maintains confidential records, and adheres to all applicable retention laws and CJIS requirements. Provides clerical and administrative support, including data entry, phone support, and document preparation. Prioritizes caseload independently and identifies missing information, resolving issues without direction. Adheres to the personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures. Assists other coworkers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. Must be able to obtain
TCIC/NCIC
certification within 6 months of hire. Three years of related experience is required. May be required to move various boxed documents weighing up to 52 lbs. with the use of a dolly for assistance. Lift up to 25 lbs. of heavy file storage boxes. Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications Two years of coursework in criminal justice is preferred. Law enforcement or criminal justice experience is preferred. Notary Public is preferred. Bilingual communication skills are preferred. Knowledge/ Skills / Abilities Knowledge of criminal case filing requirements, digital evidence procedures, and Texas laws related to juvenile cases and expunctions. Skill in reviewing and preparing detailed case files with accuracy and attention to deadlines. Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and interact professionally with courts, attorneys, and the public. General working knowledge of office administrative practices and computer operations to include Microsoft Office. Must have excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written directives; work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; prioritize and organize work assignments; make competent decisions; maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times; and maintain confidentiality of confidential matters.
