Job Description

This position is Part-Time/Benefits Eligible (30 hours per week) This position performs specialized work in the storage, maintenance, retention, and disposal of property and evidence items for the City of Manassas Police Department in accordance with department policy, OSHA regulations and state law. The hiring range for this position will be: $22.68 - $31.19 The incumbent in this position retrieves, maintains and documents using the department's records management system, all new and existing property and evidence for storage in Department's Property and Evidence room to include logging all movements of each item. Orders and manages all patrol officer standard-issue uniforms and accessories/equipment: Maintains inventory, storage, disposal and issue of those uniforms and equipment to include proper documentation for accountability purposes in the department's records management system; maintains stored equipment in a state of operational readiness; and transports items to and from off-site storage locations and maintenance and organization of said storage areas. Releases evidence to officers for court and for further criminal investigation and accepts the return of the evidence for proper storage: Transports evidence to and from the State Forensic Lab. Performs regular maintenance of the Property and Evidence facility and the Department Impound Lot to ensure an orderly and inspection ready environment. High School Diploma or GED and Vocational/Technical certification in related field required; Supplemented by three (3) years experience in property/evidence processing; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Must be able to pass a drug test, background investigation, and poly.
