Job Duties:
The Virginia Beach Police Department's Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) is part of the Analytics & Real-Time Intelligence Center (ARTIC) within the Support Division. The RTCC is dedicated to providing real-time operational support and intelligence gathering department wide. Utilizing various technological resources, analysts and camera operators work diligently monitoring calls for service and active alerts to ensure situational awareness. Delivering critical and timely information, the Real-Time Crime Center strengthens the Virginia Beach Police Department's mission to provide safer communities and improve quality of life. General responsibilities for the position include: Monitor and Support Priority Calls for Service with Real-Time Information Provide actionable intelligence regarding Officer Safety, Case Support, Social Network Analysis, License Plate Reader Alerts, and more. Observe Camera Feeds Across the City for critical areas and investigative intelligence regarding known incidents or special events. Collaborate with the Analytical Services Unit and various operational groups on emerging and ongoing crime trends. Support NIBIN Lead Development through intelligence products to assist with investigative efforts. [NIBIN] National Integrated Ballistic Information Network Contribute to Strategic Initiatives to include Priority Offender and Problem Solving processes through information sharing. For awareness, the VBPD Real-Time Crime Center operates seven days a week from 0700 hours to 0300 hours. Shift coverage is structured as follows: Day Shift operates from 0700-1530, Evening Shift from 1430-2300, and Night Shift from 1830-0300. All shifts are 8.5 hours in duration and include a 30-minute lunch break. Days off consist of two consecutive days and include at least one weekday to support operation coverage. Duties are not limited to the above and Crime Analysts may be expected to perform additional functions. This position will be filled at either a Crime Analyst I or Crime Analyst II based on qualifications. Any illegal use or possession of any illegal drug, including but not limited to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens, or any derivative thereof (except marijuana) within the last five years. Illegal possession of anabolic steroids within the last 36 months. Illegal possession of marijuana or a derivative thereof within the last 12 months.

ANALYST I MINIMUMS
Requires a Bachelor's degree OR four (4) years of experience in fields such as computer science, geography, criminal justice, information technology, business administration, or public administration as it relates to the knowledge, skills and abilities associated with this position.
CRIME ANALYST II MINIMUMS
Requires a Bachelor's degree and two (2) year experience in fields such as computer science, geography, criminal justice, information technology, business administration, or public administration OR an equivalent combination of education (above high school level) and/or experience equivalent to six (6) years in fields utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with this position. Requires a Bachelors degree OR four (4) years of experience in fields such as computer science, geography, criminal justice, information technology, business administration, or public administration as it relates to the knowledge, skills and abilities associated with this position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
CJIS/VCIN/NCIC
certification is required, in addition to the successful completion of a background check, candidates must have U.S. citizenship or be a lawful resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.

Preferences:
1. Experience as a crime or intelligence analyst. 2. Experience with communication over two-way radios. 3. Experience with real-time monitoring of live surveillance video systems. 4. Experience identifying patterns, associations, or conducting link analysis. 5. Experience using data for problem-solving. 6. Experience supporting field operations. 7. Experience with Open-Source intelligence. 8. Experience working within a high-pressure environment.

CJIS/VCIN/NCIC
certification is required, in addition to the successful completion of a background check, candidates must have U.S. citizenship or be a lawful resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization. The selected candidates may be required to become part 107 certified, an FAA Remote Pilot certification. This position requires working different shifts, samples of which are outlined in the duties section.

V RS Contribution:
All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
