POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Information System (SIS) Specialist is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the district's Student Information System (SIS), Infinite Campus. This role ensures the accuracy, security, and integrity of student and staff data across multiple platforms. The administrator oversees system operations, supports end users, and ensures compliance with district policies, state reporting requirements, and data privacy standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administer, configure, and maintain the district's Student Information System (SIS), including Infinite Campus. Oversee daily SIS operations and manage annual system processes, including End-of-Year, rollover, Beginning-of-Year setup, and summer school configuration. Configure and maintain system components such as calendars, grading scales, transcripts, attendance, scheduling structures, courses, and sections. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of student data (enrollment, attendance, grades, programs, transcripts) through ongoing audits and validation. Manage and maintain user accounts, roles, and permissions, including periodic review and updates to security groups. Provide Tier II technical support to staff, students, and families via phone, email, and any other related systems. Support and manage online registration and student data verification processes. Run reports, identify and resolve data discrepancies and system errors, and support internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements, including collaboration on Missouri DESE Core Data (MOSIS) submissions. Collaborate with district departments and state reporting staff to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant data reporting. Maintain and support integrations with third-party systems, including data imports, exports, and synchronization processes. Develop, maintain, and distribute system documentation, procedures, and user guides. Deliver training and ongoing support to staff to promote effective SIS use and adherence to best practices. Monitor system performance and conduct ongoing data audits and system improvement initiatives. Assist with system updates, upgrades, and new feature implementations, coordinating with IT staff, vendors, and district teams, as needed. Serve as liaison with vendors and external partners to troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements. Support district operations by aligning SIS functionality with academic, scheduling, and administrative needs. Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse stakeholders including administrators, teachers, staff, students, and families. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive, respectful working relationships with all stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to exercise sound judgment, particularly when handling sensitive data and making decisions impacting district operations. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to student data privacy requirements, including FERPA. Maintain a calm, professional demeanor when managing high-pressure or time-sensitive situations. Ability to manage frequent interruptions and shifting priorities while maintaining productivity and accuracy. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to read, interpret, and act on complex written and verbal information. Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision, especially during critical reporting and system cycles. Technical proficiency with enterprise systems, including Infinite Campus, Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Active Directory, and related district applications. Knowledge of Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements, including Core Data/MOSIS reporting. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring data integrity and compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Data Management, or related field preferred. Knowledge of educational data systems and state reporting requirements, including Missouri DESE Core Data (MOSIS) preferred. Experience supporting or administering a Student Information System (SIS), preferably Infinite Campus, in a K-12 school district setting. Experience with online registration systems and student data verification workflows preferred. Familiarity with state reporting tools, validation systems, and data auditing processes preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work setting requires regular interaction with various levels of staff and stakeholders to accomplish tasks that are often interrupted by immediate and/or time-sensitive needs. Duties involve regular sitting and computer use. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, hear, and utilize manual dexterity; and may occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 25-50 pounds, with heavier lifting occurring infrequently and with appropriate assistance or equipment. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work conditions may include moderate noise and frequent interruptions, especially when addressing urgent system needs or supporting staff. The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and maintain focus in a dynamic environment. The employee must be able to independently transport him/herself between district locations, as well as off-site locations to attend district-approved meetings or training.
