M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position:
Under the general supervision of an Assistant Inspector General, Assistant Director or a Supervisory Confidential Investigator, with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative, applies a broad knowledge of investigative principles, practices and procedures to perform those tasks necessary for the conduct of highly confidential and sensitive investigations and studies of a more complex nature concerning the corruption, misconduct or other illegal, unethical or improper activities of agency officials or employees, and the development and implementation of plans and programs for the control and prevention of such corruption, misconduct or other illegal, unethical or improper practices.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
May perform some of the major duties and functions of a Confidential Investigator. May perform more technical and complex investigations where additional specialization and technical expertise is required. Serves as a Team Leader supervising the performance of a team of Confidential Investigators. May perform handwriting analysis. Performs related tasks as required. Minimum Qualifications 1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time paid experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security or inspections in a major operations area of the organization; or, 2. Graduation from a senior high school and seven years of satisfactory full-time paid experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security or inspections in a major operational area of the organization, of which two years must have been in a field assignment; or, 3. A satisfactory equivalent.
