ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL CRIMINAL BUREAU GAMING ENFORCMENT DIVISION
(Springfield Regional Office) The Attorney General's Office is looking for a highly motivated attorney with a commitment to public service to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Gaming Enforcement Division within the Criminal Bureau. The Assistant Attorney General will investigate and prosecute complex criminal cases within the jurisdiction of Western Massachusetts. Cases will include a variety of matters handled by the Criminal Bureau with a focus on gaming. Investigations involve working closely with law enforcement officers and financial investigators to conduct financial record audits, witness interviews, and search warrants. These investigations and prosecutions may involve the use of confidential informants, undercover agents, and electronic surveillance. This is a challenging position with an opportunity to gain prosecution experience in complicated areas.Primary Duties :
The successful candidate will be involved in investigating and prosecuting criminal conduct related to expanded gaming in the Commonwealth, including violations of M.G.L. c. 23K, M.G.L. c. 267A and M.G.L. c. 271, and other illegal activity, such as gaming-related financial crime, organized crime, corruption, and money laundering. The Gaming Enforcement Division is a statewide division. Members work closely with the State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit assigned to both the Office of the Attorney General and the Gaming Commission, as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. The Assistant Attorney General will initiate investigations and evaluate complaints and investigation files from referral sources; formulate investigative strategies, prepare search warrants, analyze documents, and interview witnesses; conduct document and witness-intensive grand jury investigations; prepare immunity and/or cooperation agreements, as needed; make charging, venue, and plea-bargaining recommendations; prosecute complex criminal cases in district and superior courts.Position Requirements :
Law school graduate and member of the Massachusetts Bar. At least five (5) years of litigation experience is highly desirable, including experience as a criminal prosecutor or defense attorney. A demonstrated history of successful partnerships with law enforcement agencies. A demonstrated ability to handle a large, complex criminal caseload. Jury trial and grand jury experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivated, disciplined, and ethical, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making. A valid Massachusetts driver's license is required and ability to travel anywhere in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to support investigations and litigation. Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.Salary :
