Full Job Description State of Idaho Opportunity Criminal Investigator, Criminal Law Division, OAG Closing Date:

Primary Duties:

This Criminal Investigator is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit in the Criminal Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General. This is a sworn law-enforcement position responsible for investigating cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children, including sexual exploitation, enticement, and sextortion.

Primary duties include:

Conducting interviews Obtaining and analyzing electronic files and other evidence Serving subpoenas Obtaining and executing search warrants Preparing reports and exhibits Maintaining investigative case files Testifying in court Interfacing with other law-enforcement agencies

Hazardous Duty Statement:

This position requires viewing and analyzing digital content showing the sexual exploitation of children, including graphic and disturbing images and video of children being raped, tortured, and abused. The employee must be able to manage the psychological and emotional impact of repeated exposure to such material as an essential part of the job. The OAG requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to meet with a mental health professional on a semi-annual basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a current Idaho POST Certification. Minimum education of a high-school diploma or equivalent. At least five years of law-enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations. Above average communication and interpersonal skills. A thorough understanding of laws, policies, and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law-enforcement service. Ability to work both independently and in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors. Enthusiasm for public service. Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check and maintain CJIS access. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and be able to drive and travel frequently, including with little or no advance notice. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed. Any offer for employment is contingent upon the candidate's completion of a satisfactory background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, a polygraph test, and a psychological evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience investigating ICAC cases is strongly preferred.
