Job Description

Is responsible for performing any one or a combination of professional-level probation and parole functions to include supervision of intensive, high, and administrative risk offenders, conducting investigations, oversight of Court/Board related functions and performs general law enforcement duties such as maintaining order during emergencies and participants in special operations. Is responsible for gathering information regarding the criminogenic risks and needs of incarcerated inmates and utilizing evidence-based practices to develop and document re-entry and supervision plans. A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate's degree and two (2) years of military or law enforcement experience may substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
Note:
Must be currently Class 1 (C-1) certified law enforcement officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses; an associate's degree and two (2) years of military or law enforcement experience may substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted. Experience in probation and parole work. Please complete the state application to include current and previous work history and education.
