Job Description

To provide a safe, positive, learning environment for students who require time away from regular classes due to discipline problems, and social/emotional behaviors in the Time Out Room.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED. At least 60 semester hours of college or university coursework required. 2. Demonstrated successful experience working with young people in a school setting required. 3. Ability to tutor and assist students with school work in all content areas required. 4. Proficient work processing, computer, and communication skills required. 5. Bilingual in Yup'ik and English preferred. 6. Willingness to receive training and develop appropriate programming for building student self esteem. 7. Ability to work independently with students who may have emotional or social problems. 8. Ability to live and work in a cross cultural, rural Alaskan environment. 9. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.
Duties:
1. Ability to accurately and appropriately keep records of all students on the computer and provides information to parents daily and weekly. 2. Ability to collaborate with the school team to develop policy and procedure to be used in the Time Out Room. 3. Communicates with parents regarding school discipline and counseling and inventive proceeders available for students through telephone conference and meetings. 4. Provides information on all participating students on a monthly and quarterly basis to appropriate staff and parents. 5. Supervises students and monitors student progress in Time Out Room. 6. Develops procedures for students and staff regarding the Time Out Room. 7. Develops appropriate student skills streaming activities and lessons. 8. Works with students individually and in groups as needed in social skills streaming activities. 9. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
