Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Cafeteria Monitor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment during student meal periods. This position is responsible for supervising meal service in the cafeteria, ensuring adherence to school rules, supporting safe mealtime practices, and assisting with cafeteria flow and cleanup in collaboration with custodial staff.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in supervising students during breakfast and/or lunch periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Maintain order in food lines, seating areas, and traffic flow entering and leaving the cafeteria. Assist younger students with opening food items, carrying trays, and finding appropriate seating. Promote positive social interaction and encourage respectful behavior. Report significant behavioral or safety issues to school administrators. Provide immediate response to accidents, spills, or emergencies, and notify appropriate personnel. Guide students in proper cleanup, including tray return and waste disposal. Collaborate with custodial and cafeteria staff to ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid AZ fingerprint clearance card is required.EXPERIENCE
Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, or community setting preferred.SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
Ability to effectively supervise groups of children in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents. Dependability, patience, and a commitment to fostering a safe and respectful school environment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, reach, and assist students as needed. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment is the normal school setting.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
9-month year (182 days) part-time 15 hours per week, Classified Hourly Salary Schedule � LevelC. EVALUATION
