$23.00 per hour Job Overview The Crossing Guard plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crosswalks, particularly during school hours. This position requires a responsible individual who can effectively manage traffic flow and communicate with both drivers and pedestrians to maintain a safe environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to safety compliance. Duties Monitor and direct pedestrian traffic at crosswalks to ensure safe passage for children and other pedestrians. Communicate clearly with drivers to manage traffic flow and ensure compliance with stop signals. Maintain a visible presence during designated crossing times, wearing appropriate safety gear. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the appropriate authorities promptly. Assist children in understanding traffic rules and safe crossing practices. Stay informed about local traffic laws, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols related to pedestrian crossings. Requirements Knowledge of OSHA standards, first aid, CPR, and vital signs is preferred. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and EPA guidelines is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and drivers. Ability to manage compliance with safety protocols and procedures. A responsible attitude towards ensuring the safety of others in a busy environment. Previous experience in a similar role or training in traffic management is beneficial but not mandatory. This position is essential for fostering a safe community environment for our youth as they travel to and from school.
