Mondayâ€"Thursday program schedule (5 ¾ hours per day â€" includes up to 1 hour planning/week)
High School:
Staff 7:15 AM â€" 1:10
PM Middle School:
Staff 9:15 AM â€" 3:10
PM Elementary School:
Staff 8:15 AM â€" 2:10 PM South Dover Elementary end time will be 3:00 to accommodate Freedom School (+1 hour)
Salary:
$30.00/hour during program hours Capital School District Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Goals Increase school attendance and academic achievement of participating students in one or more academic areas Increase school connectedness of participants, including families, caregivers, and school teachers/staff Increase the capacity of participants to become productive adults Quality after school programs provide safe, engaging environments that motivate and inspire learning outside the regular school day. While there is no single formula for success, research shows that effective programs combine academic, enrichment, cultural, and recreational activities to engage students and families in meaningful learning opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
School Safety & Security Operations Ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, volunteers, and visitors during all summer program operations Monitor interior and exterior areas of school facilities to maintain a secure environment Verify that all exterior doors and access points remain secure throughout program hours Provide active supervision during arrival, dismissal, transitions, and high-traffic areas Student Supervision & Behavior Support Maintain order and ensure appropriate student behavior in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor areas Intervene in disturbances, conflicts, or unsafe situations and de-escalate as needed Assist with student discipline incidents, including escorting students and supporting administrative responses Reinforce expectations aligned to the Student Success Guide Emergency Preparedness & Response Support implementation of the building's comprehensive school safety plan Assist with fire drills, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols Respond to emergencies and coordinate with administration and emergency personnel Serve as part of the school crisis response structure as needed Collaboration & Communication Follow direction of building and district administration Communicate effectively with students and staff to address behavior and safety concerns Coordinate with School Resource Officers (SROs) and local/state law enforcement when required Assist with investigations and incident follow-up as directed Program Support & Documentation Maintain accurate records related to incidents, security concerns, and safety monitoring Support overall program operations to ensure a safe and orderly environment Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and preparedness for all assigned program days Perform additional duties as assigned by School Safety Supervisor, Principal, or District Leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency State of Delaware Constable Certification Approved by the Delaware Board of Examiners of Constables Eligible for and able to maintain: Delaware Constable License Constable Training Certification Firearms License and Certification (including required annual qualifications) Successfully pass criminal background check and MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) Separation from prior law enforcement in good standing Ability to meet all ongoing training and certification requirements as mandated by the State Physical ability to patrol school campus and respond to incidents First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) Demonstrated reliability, attendance, and punctuality
