Title:
Recess Supervisor
Position Summary:
Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Recess Supervisor to support students during outdoor recess periods. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, thrives in an active outdoor environment, and is committed to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive playground experience. This individual will supervise students, encourage participation in recreational activities, and promote respectful interactions among peers. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Supervise students during recess to ensure a safe and positive environment. Monitor student behavior and encourage respectful, inclusive interactions. Organize and facilitate outdoor games and recreational activities. Support student engagement and participation in structured and unstructured play. Reinforce school expectations and playground safety rules. Communicate concerns regarding student behavior or safety to appropriate school personnel. Assist in resolving minor conflicts and promoting positive social interactions. Perform other duties as assigned by building administration.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Experience with recreational activities, coaching, camps, youth programs, or related activities preferred. Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students. Enjoyment of outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Possess the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.
