Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Worcester Cultural Academy is seeking an energetic, reliable, and people-centered Building Support Staff member to join our team in Worcester, MA. This is a full-time position and a unique opportunity for someone who loves working with kids, thrives on variety, and wants to be part of something special — without needing years of classroom experience to do it. If you are the kind of person who shows up ready for whatever the day brings, keeps your cool when things get busy, and genuinely enjoys being around students of all ages, we want to hear from you. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Who We Are WCA is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K-8 community. We launched as a K-4 school and have added a grade every year since — this fall we welcome our first 7th graders. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. A school like ours — with multiple buildings, real-world partnerships, and a community that is always on the move — needs people who can keep everything running smoothly. That is exactly what this role does. We want to be honest with prospective candidates: this job keeps you moving. You will be on your feet, going between buildings, supporting students across the full K-7 range, and pivoting to wherever you are needed throughout the day. No two days look exactly the same. If that sounds like your kind of work, you will fit right in. What You'll Do Support student transitions between buildings on our multi-building campus, ensuring students move safely, efficiently, and with clear expectations Monitor lunch duty, maintaining a calm, orderly, and positive environment for students during mealtimes Chaperone field studies to our cultural institution partners — including the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater — supporting students and staff in the community Monitor in-school suspension, providing a structured and respectful environment for students who need time away from the classroom Cover the front desk as needed, welcoming visitors and families with professionalism and warmth Serve as a flexible, dependable presence across the school day — stepping in wherever support is needed and responding calmly to whatever comes up Build positive, consistent relationships with students across all grade levels, serving as a trusted and familiar adult presence in the building Support school staff by taking on tasks that keep the school's many moving pieces running smoothly What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children or youth in any setting — school, camp, after-school, community, or similar A calm, consistent, and positive presence with students ages 5-13 across a wide range of needs and personalities Comfort with being on your feet and on the move throughout the full school day Reliability and punctuality — the school counts on you to be where you are needed, when you are needed The ability to pivot quickly between tasks and settings without losing your composure Genuine enjoyment of working with kids and being part of a busy, mission-driven school community Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and warmly with students, families, and staff Must successfully pass all required background checks including CORI and fingerprinting Interested candidates may apply here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5XF8PK7 (you might need to copy & paste)Position Type:
