Position Overview The Hall Monitor helps maintain a safe and orderly school environment by overseeing hallways and other campus areas. They encourage student responsibility and assist in ensuring the safety of students, staff, and the security of the facilities. Qualifications Applicants must possess and provide proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. Ability to interface well with students, parents and staff. Prior experience working in a school setting is preferred. Ability to maintain professional conduct at all times. Job Duties Must be on time for assigned shift. Patrol and monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility. Ensures that students comply with school rules and communicates with students to monitor behavior while in the hallways. Remove disruptive students from classes when needed. Report conflicts between students to the appropriate administrator when necessary. Assist with school drills i.e. fire, tornado, lockdowns, etc. Assist the professional staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations. Monitor walkie-talkie for requests of information from staff members. Encourage and ensure that students wear identification badges. Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification. Assist with visitor sign-in procedures and building activities including crisis situations i.e., building evacuations, lockdowns, emergency situations and safety procedures. Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits. Report any discipline infractions, unauthorized visitors, and acts of vandalism to the Principal or appropriate administrator. Notify the building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations. Promote attitudes of student responsibility and assists the staff with the safety of the students and staff and security of the facilities. Supports the school district in ensuring a safe and orderly environment by monitoring the hallways and the students while maintaining confidentiality. Perform other related duties as assigned by their supervisor, Principal or designee and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
