CITY OF MADISON HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT CROSSING GUARD

(part-time employment) •Position starts in August of 2026•

Crossing Guard:

During the school year duties are to assist school children to safely cross streets to/from school; ability to hold up a hand-held, 2 lb 8 oz, stop sign over their head, while walking across major cross roads to assist children safely across streets; regularly working outside in cold weather and regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; may have to shovel snow at crosswalks and lay down salt if street crew has not made it to the cross walk; and the noise level in the work environment may be loud.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to report to crossing location within thirty (30) minutes of call. A vision and hearing exam will be given each year. Applications will be taken until position is filled. Form I-9 must be completed at time of hire.

MADISON HEIGHTS RESIDENCY IS NOT REQUIRED
