As a dedicated crossing safety professional, you will manage traffic at designated school zones and crosswalks, ensuring a safe environment for students and residents. This paid position offers an opportunity to serve your community while developing valuable communication and safety skills. Your proactive presence will help prevent accidents and promote safe pedestrian practices every day. Responsibilities Safely direct pedestrians and vehicle traffic at designated crosswalks, especially during school hours or peak pedestrian activity times Assist children, parents, school staff, and community members in crossing streets safely using established procedures Monitor traffic flow to ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards Communicate clearly with motorists and pedestrians using hand signals, whistles, or verbal instructions to maintain order Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the appropriate authorities and complete necessary documentation Experience Knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards related to workplace safety is a plus Excellent communication skills are essential for clear interactions with pedestrians, drivers, colleagues, and supervisors Ability to remain alert, attentive, and proactive during long periods of standing or walking in various weather conditions Join us in making a difference by safeguarding our community's most vulnerable pedestrians!
