School Crossing Guard

SCHEDULE

Morning 7:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Afternoon 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. This position is responsible for providing the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the children across the roadway or intersection. Works under the general supervision of the Police Department. Provides the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the children across the roadway or intersection. Provides information and assistance to the public. Reports any crime or suspicious activity observed. High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to instruct students in the safe crossing of intersections. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation. Ability to successfully pass and maintain the following background checks: (1) Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, (2) Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification, and (3) FBI Criminal Background Check through the PA Department of Human Services. Ability to drive for a minimum of 1 hour, sit for a minimum of 1 hour and walk up to maximum of 5 hours per workday. Ability to bend, stoop and lift 20% of the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds for utilizing assigned equipment. Ability to use both the right and left hand for firm grasping, repetitive actions and fine manipulation. Ability to perform job functions in all types of weather and temperatures. Ability to perform job functions using safety precautions around moving vehicles, parked vehicles and traffic.
