Job Details Category Police Department Status Open Salary Part-time $12.00 per hour Posted January 11, 2025 9:00 AM Closing Open Until Filled The School Crossing Guard is under the direction of the School Resource Sergeant. The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of students and citizens using crosswalks and sidewalks near and around designated school zones. This is accomplished by utilizing safety equipment, crosswalk signs, cones and other perimeter safety markers to distinctly draw driver's attention to school zone safety during school zone enforcement hours. Average work day is equal to about 3 hours per day, depending on school scheduling. May perform other related work as required. This position is subject to the City of Portland's Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law.THE CITY OF PORTLAND IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
Qualifications Ability to work a three (3) hour split shift to include a 1.5-hour shift in the morning and 1.5-shift in the afternoon coinciding with local school district student arrival and departure times. Days and times may be adjusted as needed to align with local school district school days, holiday schedules, inclement weather days, and/or modified school arrival and release times.
