Job Description
About QSP Quality Service Plus is a commercial sign fabrication and installation company and a 3M Certified Fabricator operating a 47,000 SF facility in Bristol, PA. We build and install signage and wayfinding programs for national enterprise clients across the banking, data-center, and corporate real-estate sectors, frequently as multi-site rollouts governed by client brand standards. Position Summary We are hiring a Signage Documentation Specialist to produce the client-facing documents that communicate, clearly and accurately, what signage a customer is getting and how and where they are getting it. Working from established brand standards and templates (provided by the client or by QSP), you will assemble the signage standards document / brand book, produce sign location plans keyed to the building's floor plans, and build the message schedule that defines every sign. This is an execution and documentation role, not a creative design role. You will not originate brand identity, color palettes, or sign concepts. You will apply existing standards faithfully, plot signage accurately on architectural plans, and organize information so that both the customer and the installer can follow it without asking a single follow-up question. Precision, consistency, and clarity are the whole job. Core Responsibilities Assemble signage documentation / brand books. Build client-facing signage standards documents from established brand standards and QSP templates. Apply the client's existing brand accurately and consistently. This is faithful application, not redesign. Produce sign location plans. Work over architectural floor plans (PDF or CAD backgrounds) to place and key every sign to scale, per floor and per building. Plans must be clean, legible, and unambiguous to an installer. Build and maintain message schedules. Create and maintain the master schedule listing every sign: type code, location/room, message copy, quantity, mounting side and height, finish, and notes. Keep the schedule and the location plans reconciled to each other through every revision as a single source of truth. Communicate scope clearly to the customer. Format and organize the package so a non-expert client understands exactly what they are receiving, how much, where it goes, and in what sequence it will be delivered and installed. Plain, consistent, unambiguous documentation is the deliverable. Maintain templates and standards libraries. Keep QSP's reusable sign-type libraries, schedule templates, plan legends, and title blocks current and consistent. Flag gaps or conflicts to the standards owner rather than inventing solutions. Hand off to production and fabrication. Prepare clean, correctly specified files for the drafting and fabrication teams and confirm the documented intent is preserved downstream. Manage revisions. Incorporate client and PM markups and maintain disciplined version control across iterations. Coordinate for accuracy. Work with project managers, estimators, and installers to confirm quantities, locations, and scope are correct before documents go to the client. Required Qualifications 2-5 years in production art, prepress, technical documentation, signage/wayfinding production, drafting, or a comparable execution-focused role. Ability to read architectural floor plans and work to scale. Non-negotiable. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign (and Acrobat), or demonstrated aptitude to become proficient quickly. Demonstrated production of structured, template-driven documents and schedules (tables, spec sheets, keyed plans). Clear, plain written communication; able to make a document a non-expert customer understands. Meticulous attention to detail, strong data discipline, and the temperament to follow a defined standard precisely rather than improvise. Portfolio or work samples showing documentation work (plans, schedules, spec sheets), not brand/identity design. Explicitly NOT Required Original brand or identity design, illustration, or creative concepting. This work is handed to this role, not created by it. Preferred Qualifications Sign-industry, environmental-graphics, or architecture/engineering documentation experience. SignAgent, Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, or Hot Door CADtools. Familiarity with
ADA 2010 / ICC-ANSI A117.1
signage requirements, or the ability to apply a compliance checklist reliably. Technical-writing or technical-communication training. Competencies Disciplined and systematic; finds satisfaction in accuracy and consistency rather than creative latitude. Spatial literacy; comfortable working to scale over architectural drawings. Clear communicator in document form. Reliable under volume; keeps plans and schedules reconciled across many concurrent jobs. Discreet with confidential client brand and facility information.
