Job Description
Job Title:
BIM Coordinator Job Description The BIM Coordinator supports construction and BIM lifecycle activities with a strong emphasis on document control, database migration, and project closeout readiness for large-scale, mission-critical builds. This role partners closely with project managers, construction teams, and external stakeholders to ensure that all models, drawings, and documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant with established quality standards. Initially focused on construction administration and document control, the position transitions into leading project closeout efforts and ensuring digital assets are structured for long-term operations, future modifications, and retrofits. The role suits a highly detail-oriented professional who understands construction documentation, BIM file structures, and disciplined data management. Responsibilities Support construction administration activities by managing construction documentation, submittals, closeout packages, and deliverables across multiple projects. Perform comprehensive document control, including organizing, tracking, and maintaining construction documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. Open, review, and assess Revit and AutoCAD files to verify drawing types, classifications, and metadata, ensuring they meet project standards and requirements. Audit, consolidate, and validate BIM models and documents for completeness, accuracy, and readiness for future use in retrofits and modifications. Coordinate and lead project closeout activities in collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant handover. Identify corrupt, incomplete, or missing models and documentation and work with project stakeholders to resolve issues. Apply defined workflows, quality standards, and process guidelines consistently in all document and data management activities. Support construction phase workflows by ensuring required deliverables are tracked, collected, and properly archived. Collaborate closely with project managers, coordinators, vendors, and construction managers to align documentation and BIM assets with project goals. Initiate and maintain clear communication with project managers and coordinators to clarify documentation needs, resolve discrepancies, and confirm closeout requirements. Contribute to the organization and structure of digital assets so they remain accessible and usable throughout the full BIM lifecycle, from design through operations. Assist with database migration and organization of BIM-related files and records to support long-term operations and facility management. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of experience in construction administration, document control, or BIM coordination, managing documentation, submittals, closeout packages, and deliverables across multiple projects. Strong construction document control and administration skills, including familiarity with construction phase workflows and deliverables. Practical knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD file types, with the ability to open, review, and assess files and understand drawing types, classifications, and metadata. BIM and drawing literacy, with the ability to interpret models and documentation even though modeling is not required. Proven experience supporting or leading project closeout activities with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders. Experience in data and document quality management, including auditing, consolidating, and validating models and documents for completeness and accuracy. Ability to identify corrupt, incomplete, or missing models and documentation and take appropriate follow-up actions. Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform meticulous, repetitive work while adhering to defined processes and quality standards. Ability to understand file metadata and basic file structures related to BIM and construction documentation. Effective communication skills for initiating and maintaining conversations with project managers, coordinators, and other stakeholders. Ability to follow established workflows, documentation standards, and quality management procedures. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with data center, mission-critical facilities, MEP, ACS, or other complex infrastructure projects. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO-aligned documentation and quality control environments. Experience supporting projects across multiple regions and time zones and coordinating with global project teams. Understanding of the BIM lifecycle and how BIM models are used across design, construction, and operations phases. Experience working in hybrid or cross-functional teams, collaborating with project managers, coordinators, vendors, and construction managers. Revit coordination experience of 2+ years is beneficial. Bachelor's degree is not required if equivalent experience is demonstrated. Interest in building deep expertise in document control, quality management, and project closeout leadership. Ability to contribute to long-term initiatives focused on preserving digital assets for future operations and modifications. Work Environment The role offers hands-on exposure to complex, large-scale construction projects and the full BIM lifecycle, from design through operations. The position provides opportunities to work on long-term initiatives and influence how digital assets are preserved and structured for future use. The ideal arrangement is a hybrid schedule with the ability to work from an office in the Seattle area, combining in-person collaboration with remote work. Fully remote work is also possible for candidates who reside in the Pacific Time Zone (PST). The environment emphasizes collaboration with project managers, coordinators, vendors, and construction managers, and relies heavily on digital tools and platforms for managing Revit, AutoCAD, and other construction documentation.
