Data Centers Document Control Specialist Job Description The Data Centers Document Control Specialist supports the full construction and BIM lifecycle with a strong focus on document control, database migration, and project closeout readiness for large-scale, mission-critical facilities. You will collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and external stakeholders to ensure all models, drawings, and documentation are accurate, complete, and aligned with established quality standards. Initially, you will concentrate on construction administration and document control, then transition into leading and coordinating project closeout efforts, helping to structure digital assets so they remain usable for long-term operations, future modifications, and retrofits. This position is ideal for a highly detail-oriented professional who understands construction documentation, BIM file structures, and disciplined data management processes. Responsibilities Manage construction documentation, submittals, closeout packages, and deliverables across multiple projects with consistent quality and organization. Support construction administration activities by maintaining accurate records of drawings, revisions, and related documentation. Open, review, and assess Revit and AutoCAD files to verify drawing types, classifications, and metadata, ensuring that models and documents meet project requirements. Audit, consolidate, and validate models and documents for completeness, accuracy, and suitability for future use, including retrofits and modifications. Lead or coordinate project closeout activities with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and complete handover of documentation. Identify corrupt, incomplete, or missing models and documentation and work with project managers, coordinators, and vendors to resolve issues. Apply and adhere to defined workflows, quality standards, and documentation procedures to maintain disciplined data and document management. Support BIM lifecycle activities by organizing and structuring digital assets for use across design, construction, and operations phases. Collaborate closely with project managers, construction managers, coordinators, and vendors to align document control activities with project milestones and deliverables. Follow construction phase workflows and deliverables requirements, ensuring that documentation supports both active construction and long-term operational needs. Initiate clear and proactive communication with project stakeholders to gather information, clarify requirements, and drive completion of documentation tasks. Contribute to continuous improvement of document control and quality management practices within a structured, process-driven environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in construction administration, document control, or BIM coordination, managing documentation and deliverables across multiple projects. Hands-on experience with construction document control and administration, including submittals, change orders, and closeout packages. Practical knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD file types and drawing classifications, with the ability to open, review, and assess models and drawings (modeling not required). Experience with project closeout, including supporting or leading closeout activities and coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders. Proven ability in data and document quality management, including auditing, consolidating, and validating models and documents for completeness and accuracy. Ability to identify corrupt, incomplete, or missing models and documentation and take appropriate follow-up actions. Understanding of file metadata and basic file structures as they relate to BIM and construction documentation. Familiarity with construction phase workflows and deliverables, and how documentation supports each phase. High attention to detail and strong process adherence, with the ability to perform meticulous, repetitive work while maintaining quality standards. Strong communication skills, including the ability to initiate and maintain effective conversations with project managers, coordinators, and other stakeholders. Ability to follow defined processes, workflows, and quality standards consistently. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with data center, mission-critical, MEP, ACS, or other complex infrastructure projects. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO-aligned documentation and quality control environments. Experience supporting projects across multiple regions and time zones, including global project coordination. Understanding of BIM lifecycle usage across design, construction, and operations phases. Experience working in hybrid, cross-functional teams with project managers, coordinators, vendors, and construction managers. At least 2 years of Revit coordination experience is beneficial. Bachelor's degree is not required if equivalent relevant experience is demonstrated. Interest in developing deep expertise in document control, quality management, and project closeout leadership. Work Environment The role supports large-scale, complex construction projects and the full BIM lifecycle, offering exposure to mission-critical data center environments and sophisticated digital asset management practices. The ideal arrangement is a hybrid schedule with periodic work from an office in the Seattle area, allowing in-person collaboration with project and construction teams. Fully remote work is also possible for candidates residing in the Pacific Time Zone, enabling effective coordination across project stakeholders and time zones. You will work extensively with digital tools and platforms for document control, BIM files (Revit and AutoCAD), and quality management, in a structured, process-driven environment that values accuracy, consistency, and long-term usability of data.
