Lead Specialist Control Room Management Energy Transfer LP United States, Texas, Houston Jun 23, 2026 Description The Lead Control Room Management Specialist is a subject-matter expert responsible for the strategic oversight of departmental goals and for ensuring compliance with DOT and
PHMSA 192
regulations. This role requires a proactive professional to design, implement, and manage complex programs for Control Center training, standards, and regulatory procedures. The Lead Specialist serves as a technical anchor, leveraging advanced data analytics to ensure the safety and integrity of pipeline operations.
Key Responsibilities Regulatory Leadership:
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of
DOT PHMSA
regulations and lead the development of CRM Procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
Alarm Management:
Maintain Alarm Management Program metrics and KPIs, using data-driven insights to evaluate and improve program effectiveness.
Training & Curriculum:
Develop and oversee comprehensive training programs, including initial, recurring, and annual compliance training, desk-top drills, and testing for Controllers.
Project & SCADA Integration:
Act as the primary Control Center representative for SCADA system changes, software enhancements, and large-scale technical projects.
Audit & Inspection Defense:
Lead the preparation for and support of internal and external inspections and audits to validate CRM program maturity.
Operational Analysis:
Perform workload analyses and reviews of controller activities to ensure safe operations and compliance with fatigue management requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Facilitate incident investigations and "lessons-learned" initiatives to drive department-wide safety goals.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree required or additional equivalent experience.
Experience:
8+ years of experience in a Control Center environment.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience in data analytics management, specifically building reports using queries from SQL and Power BI.
Communication:
Demonstrated success in teaching, coaching, and presenting complex regulatory or technical information.
Project Management:
Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously with a focus on precision and detail. Preferred Knowledge / Skills Expert-level understanding of PHMSA regulations and the Natural Gas Industry. Proficiency in SharePoint, Word, Excel, DataParc, PowerPoint, and DAX code for reporting. Extensive experience developing and implementing specialized control room training programs. Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across technical and management teams.
