Duties Help The Director, Environmental Management Division:
Recommends policies, programs, and stregies for complying with environmental requirements associed with NASA programs and institutions, including environmental planning, pollution prevention, and regulory compliance. Develops policy for the preparion of environmental impact stements and assessments for major NASA programmic undertakings. Conducts studies, analyses, investigions, and assessments of environmental issues, contamined soils, hazardous merials management, and hazardous waste disposal, to identify the most approprie options. Ensures these efforts are appropriely funded and conducted in accordance with customer and regulory requirements. Reviews and/or participes in the Assessments of NASA Centers and Component Facilities. Provides program management of NASA efforts for the compliance with restorion/cleanup activities management, and oversight of Center/Component Facility activities to ensure adherence with regulory requirements while minimizing negive impacts to NASA programs. Establishes and advoces total NASA Environmental Compliance and Restorion Program activities included in the annual budget request to the OMB and Congress. Prepares Agency level environmental/energy reports to external Agencies such as the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Environmental protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Congress. Coordines with other Federal Agencies/Departments, such as Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, the White House, and NASA external stakeholders and partners on NASA environmental and energy programs to meet performance goals established by the President, Executive Order, or legislion.
