Job Overview The Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations in support of Company operations, maintenance, and construction activities. The specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance and leadership to various company departments concerning compliance with environmental regulations. Additionally, the specialist provides coaching and support to other environmental staff members in the achievement of land and environmental department. Medical Vision Dental Supplemental Life Insurance Dependent Life Insurance Flexible Spending Account Wellness Programs Service Awards Educational Reimbursement Fitness Reimbursement Holidays Paid Time Off Parental & Maternity Leave 401K Responsibilities Provide technical guidance and assistance to various company departments concerning compliance with environmental regulations Provide support to other environmental staff members in the achievement of land and environmental department tasks Prepare and submit documents related to gaining federal or state authorization for company activities or demonstrating compliance with applicable regulations to the respective agencies Monitor regulatory initiatives, estimate potential impacts to company, and participate in the process involved in the rulemaking Liaise with regulatory agencies in support of company functions Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related physical science field or combination of work experience and education in place of Entry-level environmental work experience related to air permitting, hazardous waste management, RCRA, or other applicable environmental compliance requirements Valid driver's license and insurability Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail Experience in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or related program Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations Ability to manage and oversee environmental projects Ability to work independently in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines Ability to manage and oversee the work of multiple environmental projects Preferred Qualification Advanced degree in environmental science or related physical science field Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations Experience writing various permitting documents such as Air, NPDES, SWPPP, and SPCC permits Experience with EPA, FERC, and State Department of Environmental regulations preferred Other Requirements Ability to travel (35% on average), by car and/or plane Reliable attendance, scheduling flexibility when job demands require Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment while remaining positive License and Insurability A valid driver's license and insurability under company policy are required.
