Job Title Environmental Services Air Quality Leader Company Overview A nationally recognized, employee‑owned consulting and engineering organization is expanding its environmental capabilities across the Midwest. The environmental team supports industrial, energy, infrastructure, and commercial clients by delivering advanced permitting, regulatory compliance, and technical consulting services. The group is known for impactful project execution, strong cross‑functional collaboration, and significant opportunities for leadership advancement within a leading Environmental Services practice. Location Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL Role Summary The Environmental Services Air Quality Leader provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership for a regional Air Quality practice. This role directs complex permitting and compliance initiatives, oversees modeling and analytical work, develops project approaches, mentors technical staff, and supports business development efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong regulatory knowledge, proven client‑facing experience, and the ability to guide teams through multifaceted environmental challenges. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage air permitting and regulatory compliance efforts across diverse industries. Oversee emissions evaluations, applicability analyses, and control technology assessments. Review or guide air dispersion modeling using approved tools and methodologies. Support preparation of environmental management plans and multi‑media compliance documentation. Manage staff workloads, performance development, and team growth initiatives. Lead proposal development, including scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules. Build and maintain strong client relationships; contribute to regional business development strategy. Uphold quality assurance standards and promote strong safety culture. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related technical field. 12+ years of experience in air permitting, compliance, or related environmental services. Proficiency in Clean Air Act regulatory frameworks (NSR/PSD, Title
V, NSPS, NESHAP
). Experience performing or reviewing air dispersion modeling. Demonstrated project management and leadership capabilities. Preferred Qualifications Prior consulting experience. Existing client relationships or a track record of supporting business development. Experience supervising technical professionals or leading project teams. Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Compensation Expected base compensation range:
$150,000•$250,000 , depending on experience.
