Job Description

Environmental Permitting Specialist - Transmission Projects Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC | Hybrid (3 days onsite/field) | Travel in NC/SC We're hiring an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to support transmission infrastructure projects (substations, transmission lines, pipelines, roadways). You'll lead permitting efforts and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations across North and South Carolina. Travel is mostly day travel with occasional overnight (~25%). What You'll Do Lead and prepare environmental permits (USACE 404/401, SWPPP, floodplain, etc.) Support transmission project teams on permitting & compliance strategy Review environmental reports, wetland delineations, habitat studies, and civil/site plans Coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure approvals Track permits, schedules, and compliance requirements Provide field support on project sites What We're Looking For Bachelor's in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Engineering, or related field 7+ years environmental permitting experience Strong experience with NC & SC permitting processes Background in utility, transmission, pipeline, or linear infrastructure projects Ability to read civil drawings and site plans Proficiency in Microsoft Office Nice to Have USACE, USFWS, SHPO, or state DEQ coordination experience Certifications (CPESC, PWS, QEP, PE) ArcGIS experience
