Job Description
Zircoa is looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist that will work closely with our Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Specialist to ensure the organization adheres to environmental laws and regulations by developing compliance programs, conducting audits and inspections, preparing reports, obtaining permits, and serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies. Mitigates environmental impacts of operations and promote sustainability through expert guidance on waste management, air and water quality, and other areas
Essential Functions:
Regulatory Monitoring:
Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations relevant to the organization's operations. Acts as backup Radiation Safety Officer and IRRP responsible for equipment and materials compliance activities.Program Development:
Create, implement, and manage programs to ensure compliance with these regulations.Audits & Inspections:
Conduct regular site inspections, environmental audits, and sample collections to identify potential violations and compliance gaps.Permitting & Reporting:
Manage the process of obtaining and maintaining environmental permits and prepare timely, accurate reports for regulatory agencies. Liaison withAgencies:
Act as a key point of contact between the organization and regulatory bodies, facilitating communication and resolution of issues (on-call).Policy & Training:
Advise on best practices, help develop internal policies, and provide training to staff on environmental standards and procedures.Data Analysis:
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to environmental performance and compliance to inform decision-making. Supervises calibration and correct operation of continuous monitoring systems. Assists engineering and maintenance staff in troubleshootingSustainability:
Contribute to the organization's sustainability goals by promoting environmentally friendly policies and minimizing its environmental footprint. Common Areas of Focus Air emissions and quality Water quality and discharges Hazardous waste management Spill prevention and control Stormwater management Requirements Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, chemistry, biology, or life sciences and five years of related experience in environmental related field. Effective oral and written communications skills to interact with and communicate environmental health and safety procedures to employees and staff. Ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors, and employees under stressful conditions. Ability to respond promptly in-person to the plant location when required for environmental health and safety services. Ability to wear and use appropriate protective equipment as necessary. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of job. Knowledge of laws concerning workplace environmental safety. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment, in manufacturing operation, and lab areas. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Pay:
