JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title Environmental Technician Department Environmental Consulting Reports To Manager, Environmental Consulting Direct Reports 0 Full Time Exempt Hourly Part Time Non-Exempt Salaried Job Purpose The Environmental Technician provides field and office support for environmental compliance, permitting, monitoring, and remediation projects throughout Pennsylvania. This position supports PADEP regulatory programs, including Act 2 remediation and NPDES permitting and compliance. The role is approximately 80% field-based and 20% office-based, supporting both routine compliance and active environmental response projects. Essential Functions Environmental Compliance and Inspections Conduct Erosion & Sedimentation (E&S) Inspections in accordance with approved E&S Control Plans and PADEP regulations Perform Environmental Compliance Inspections to support permit compliance, including 1 NPDES and site specific approvals Conduct site walks and site assessments to document existing conditions, identify compliance issues, and support permitting and remediation activities Document inspection findings and prepare inspection reports for internal review and regulatory submittals 2 Sampling and Field Data Collection Conduct Erosion & Sedimentation (E&S) Inspections in accordance with approved E&S Control Plans and PADEP regulations Perform Environmental Compliance Inspections to support permit compliance, including NPDES and site specific approvals Conduct site walks and site assessments to document existing conditions, identify compliance issues, and support permitting and remediation activities Document inspection findings and prepare inspection reports for internal review and regulatory submittals Regulatory Reporting and Permitting Support Support preparation and submittal of environmental and waste related documentation, including 26R Reports 3
  • Assist with Tier II Reporting under EPCRA requirements Provide technical support for NPDES permit drafting, renewals, and applications Compile monitoring data, inspection results, and supporting documentation for regulatory compliance Remote Sensing 4
  • Conduct drone surveys for site documentation, inspections, monitoring, and reporting Maintain compliance with FAA Part 107 requirements, flight logs, and data management Emergency Response 5
  • Participate in emergency response and on‑call rotations as assigned Support industrial service projects, environmental response, and site maintenance activities Job Specification Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree (4-year) in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related science or engineering discipline.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Certifications Ability and willingness to obtain the following: FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (Drone Pilot License) MSHA Surface and Underground Training E&S Inspection Certification Familiarity with PADEP environmental regulations, including Act 2 and NPDES, Experience preferred Ability to follow regulatory protocols and direction from Project Managers and Professional Environmental Specialists knowledge, skills and capabilities Strong field documentation and technical writing skills Ability to manage multiple field activities while maintaining regulatory deadlines PC proficiency Computer skills including Word, Excel, Access and database software is a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted Ability to traverse rugged terrain and active industrial, construction, or Physical and remediation sites Field Requirements Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, high‑visibility vest, and steel‑toe boots Comfortable driving company vehicles and towing trailers
