Job Description
Introduction The Maryland Department of Budget & Management (DBM) Chief Information Office (CIO) and the Maryland Department of Information Technology's (DoIT) Office of Accessibility (OOA) coordinate accessible information technology in compliance with state and federal law. OOA supports state agencies in developing, procuring, and implementing accessible information technology services. �DoIT collaborates with the Maryland Department of Disabilities and the Department of General Services to ensure the state procures, develops and implements accessible information technology systems.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Department of Budget & Management Chief Information Office is seeking part-time Document Remediation Specialists, Accessibility.\r\n\r\n\r\n

REMOTE\r\n\r\nPOSITION DUTIES
After completing an in-house training curriculum on digital accessibility, the Document Accessibility Specialist remediates inaccessible electronic documents for both the Department of IT, and other State Agencies, as directed by the Director of the Office of Accessibility.� Position duties include technical assistance internally and externally to other state agencies, document remediation support, and training.\r\n\r\n\r\nExamples of Work:
\r\n\r\n\r\n- \tUnder light supervision, reviews accessibility errors from common content authoring tools to determine the appropriate course of action for correction.\r\n
- \tTests and remediates departmental documentation to comply with accessibility standards.\r\n
- \tPerforms other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nDESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\n\r\n\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\nFURTHER INSTRUCTIONS
