Category Assistive Technology Specialist Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in assistive technology and learning disability support to an engaging contract opportunity in the Austin, TX area. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about leveraging technology to promote accessibility and providing consultative support for students with learning disabilities.
Key Qualifications:
Certification or credential as an Assistive Technology Specialist and/or Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) Experience with evaluating, implementing, and training on assistive technology for students with diverse learning needs Proven track record of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, therapists, and families In-depth knowledge of current assistive technology tools, software, and devices Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal Ability to interpret evaluations and recommend tailored interventions for students with learning disabilities Understanding of state and federal regulations regarding special education and technology supports
Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments to determine students' needs for assistive technology Provide recommendations, support, and training to staff and students on effective use of assistive devices and software Consult with educational teams to develop and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on technology-based accommodations Mentor and guide teachers on implementing technology-driven instructional strategies in the classroom Stay current with emerging trends in assistive technology and support ongoing professional development for school staff Document evaluation results, recommendations, and progress using clear and accurate reporting This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact in educational settings and support inclusive practices for diverse learners.
